Let's Switch the Code: Increasing an Environment of Inclusion Through the Lens of Code-Switching

Code-switching has affected many employees as it relates to speech, appearance, behavior, expression, and more. We've all code-switched and although it has its benefits such as promotion and advancement, it leaves many experiencing burnout, feeling devalued, and offering a low commitment to organizations. In this session, we will consider the effects and consequences of code-switching, the ways in which it can hinder an inclusive community, explore inclusive leadership, and discuss ways to create an environment that promotes inclusion and allows everyone to be their true selves and show up authentically.

In this session attendees will gain knowledge on the informal and formal definitions of code-switching, discuss and share personal experiences and the effects of code-switching, and explore and create solutions that promote an inclusive community.
