Chairs Development Breakfast In-Person
The Provost's Office, in conjunction with the Faculty Center and the Center for Servant Leadership, invites you to a monthly series of Chairs Development Breakfasts to be offered during the spring semester. The breakfasts are voluntary and each one will be centered on a specific set of topics related to improving your comfort and effectiveness as a department chair. Topics will be drawn from the responses we received to the interest survey sent out during the fall semester.

An important part of the program will be discussions based on scenarios (real or imagined) and case studies.
Our topic for the February breakfast will be “Effective Strategies for Recruitment and Retention.” If you have an established approach to recruiting and retaining students (such as a convocation model, a Discovery Day activity, or other programs), please plan to share your approach with the group. Please briefly address the following: What special challenges has your program faced in recruiting and retaining students? Why might other departments want to try a strategy similar to yours? Any lessons learned? (5-minute target: a 1-page/1-screen handout optional)
