Student Support Workshop: Supporting Student Success and Enhanced Quality of Life at Columbus State University

Student Support Workshop: Supporting Student Success and Enhanced Quality of Life at Columbus State University In-Person

Today’s students have diverse backgrounds, demanding lives, and uneven resources to apply to their studies. The challenge for modern universities is to support student persistence, achievement, fulfillment and success, despite those challenges. It is no longer sufficient to create supports to address the so-called “deficiencies” of students; forward-thinking institutions are willing to redesign their own structures, policies, and operations so that they do not create implicit obstacles to student success.

In this dynamic workshop, higher ed strategist Ken Steele will share thought-provoking bright ideas and best practices in student support, and a holistic “quality of life” framework that considers how convenient services, nurturing environments, social engagement, enhanced physical and mental health, and a sense of personal direction can all contribute to better student outcomes. Participants will engage in reflection, discussion and brainstorming about the student experience at CSU, and how it could be improved in the short and medium terms. Be sure to bring your smartphone, tablet or laptop so that you can participate in real-time online polls.
